Joseph R. Pevay

Joseph Robert Pevay, 69, of Springfield, died Wednesday at home. He was the father of Deborah J. Pevay of North Adams. Born in Somerville on June 18, 1932, son of Joseph and Josephine Bartkovich Pevay, he attended Lexington public schools and graduated from Somerville Vocational High School. He was employed as district manager for the service division of Chrysler Motors Corp. in the New England area for 25 years, retiring in 1991. Prior to that, he was service manager for Chrusz Motors in Arlington. He was a member of the Connecticut Valley Region Antique Auto Club of America and owned and displayed his 1935 Chrysler Airstream. Besides his daughter, he leaves his wife of 48 years, the former Mary-Jane C. Richardson; another daughter, Judith D. Kimble of Dudley; a son, Kenneth J. Pevay of Monson, and five grandchildren. Services will be conducted by his brother-in-law, the Rev. Royden C. Richardson, on Monday at 1 at SAMPSON'S CHAPEL OF THE ACRES, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Park Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Pevay's name to Hospice of Western New England, 50 Maple St., Springfield, MA 01104.
