Mary E. Klahn

Mary E. Klahn, 81, of Summer Street died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Lee on Nov. 9, 1920, daughter of Harold and Dorothy Buckbee Soules, she moved to Sheffield at a young age with her family and attended schools there. She lived on East Street in Great Barrington for many years until moving to Lee in 1992. She was employed by the former Great Barrington Manufacturing Co. until its closing. She then worked as an inspector at Becton, Dickinson & Co. in Canaan, Conn., until her retirement in 1986. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, painting, cross stitching and working in her gardens. Her husband, William Klahn, whom she married Sept. 15, 1940, in Sheffield, died Dec. 10, 1971. She leaves a son, William Klahn of Lee, with whom she resided; a daughter, Sylvia Winters of West Stockbridge, and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation through FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
