Albert J. Lockwood

Albert J. Lockwood, 84, of Lockwood Road, Livingston, N.Y., died Saturday at the home of his daughter, Patricia Lovallo in Cheshire. Born in Yonkers, N.Y., on April 7, 1918, son of Christopher and Marie Shoenback Lockwood, he attended schools in Livingston and Germantown High School. A World War II Army veteran, he served as a medical technician with the 238th General Hospital, which traveled through France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany as a trauma unit. Mr. Lockwood was employed by the New York State Department of Transportation on the Taconic Parkway for 20 years, retiring in 1980. He was a communicant of the Church of the Nativity of Linlithgo and served as a board member for the Hudson City (N.Y.) School District for five years. He was a life member of the Livingston Fire Company and a past master of Johnstown Grange 1162. He also was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and a life member and past commander of the Southern Columbia Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6398. He was past president of the Columbia County (N.Y.) Magis-trates Association. Mr. Lockwood was a founder and organizer of the Southern Columbia Ambulance Squad and donated the land site of the Livingston Recreational Park. He was a Boy Scout leader, first-aid instructor and worked on the Columbia County Soap Box Derby for many years. Besides his daughter, he leaves his wife, the former Anna Schwehr; another daughter, Joan M. Peachman of Queensbury, N.Y.; two sons, Robert Lockwood of Livingston and Chris Lockwood of New York City; a brother, Ralph Lockwood of Greenport, N.Y.; two sisters, Alice Kisselburg of Greenport and Marion Genrich of Olathe, Kan., and three grandchildren. The funeral will be Thursday at 9:15 from YADACK-FOX FUNERAL HOME OF GERMANTOWN and at 10 at the Church of the Nativity of Linlithgo, where the Rev. Theodore Gerken will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Nativity Church Cemetery, with full military honors offered by Southern Columbia Memorial VFW Post 6398. Members of the post will conduct services at 8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
