Llewellyn Tucker Jr.

Llewellyn Bryant "Bud" Tucker Jr., 69, of 23 Narragansett Ave. died Saturday at home. Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 6, 1933, son of Llewellyn B. Tucker Sr. and Ruth Throop Tucker, he was a 1950 graduate of the former Dalton High School and a 1954 graduate of Syracuse (N.Y.) University. He served in the Army from 1954 to 1958 and retired as a commander in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1993 with more than 20 years of service. Mr. Tucker was employed as a chemist in research and development at Crane & Co. for 37 years, retiring in 1995. He served as a member of the National Ski Patrol for 42 years, working at Mount Greylock, Brodie Mountain, Berkshire East and Otis Ridge ski areas. He enjoyed sailing and was a member of Pontoosuc Sailing Club. He also was a member of the Sports Car Club of America. He and his wife, the former Laura E. Pearl, were married Dec. 11, 1982. Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, David B. Tucker and Michael T. Tucker, both of Pittsfield, and Edward F. Tucker of Cato, N.Y.; two daughters, Carol T. Auer of Exton, Pa., and Karen T. Teitel of Hopkinton; a stepson, Ward A. Fritz of Watertown; a stepdaughter, Gwendolyn A. Fritz of Newton Center; two sisters, Lucille Farnum of Seminole, Fla., and Grace E. Tucker of Marblehead, and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Tucker may be made to the National Ski Patrol fund in care of Dave Nelson, 2 Terrace Road, Boonton, NJ 07005. DERY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
