Julia Stott Reber

Julia Stott Reber, 91, of 548 Elm St., Northampton, formerly of Tyringham, died Tuesday at Sunbridge of Northampton. Born in Philadelphia on Sept. 24, 1910, daughter of Joseph and Julia Fender Stott, she attended schools there. She had resided in Tyringham until she moved to Northampton in September 1998. Ms. Reber was employed as a secretary with the Army Corps of Engineers until she retired. She served on the control board and the admissions committee of the Berkshire County Home for Aged Women and on the church committee of the Union Church in Tyringham. She was also president of the Hop Brook Community Club and a chief contributor to "Tyringham Topics," a town publication for many years. In the 1980s, she read to a group of children in the Tyringham Library. Her first husband, Dr. Clayton Hawfield, is deceased. Her husband, Maj. Gen. Miles Reber, is also deceased She leaves two daughters, Margaret Reber of Shutesbury and Helen Stephens of Waynesboro, Va.; a granddaughter, and two great-granddaughters.
