Julius H. Naventi

ulius H. "Mickey" Naventi, 81, of 59 Salisbury Court, formerly of Chapel Street in East Lee, died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center. He moved to Pittsfield in 1995. Born in Lee on May 20, 1921, son of John and Theresa Trovatelli Naventi, he was a 1939 graduate of Lee High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1943 until his discharge in 1945 with the rank of staff sergeant. Mr. Naventi was employed by GE in the ordnance department from 1939 to 1943. From 1947 to 1957, he and his brother, George J. Naventi, operated East Lee Diner. He then worked as a dispatcher for both Lee Lime Corp. and John S. Lane and Sons in West Stockbridge. He retired in 1985. He was a communicant of St. Mark's Church. While in Lee, he was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of the G. Marconi Lodge 1620 Sons of Italy and the Lombardi American Legion Post 254 in West Stockbridge. His wife, the former Frances B. Battistoni, whom he married May 10, 1943, died Feb. 2, 2001. Besides his brother, of West Stockbridge, he leaves a son, Ronald F. Naventi of Petaluma, Calif.; a daughter, Patricia N. Sinclair of Pittsfield; another brother, Louis P. Naventi of Lee; two sisters, Katherine A. Bona of Alexandria, Va., and Josephine "Irene" Boyne of Lee, and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, Henry J. Sr., Paul I., John D. and Herman E. Naventi, and a sister, Mary M. Masiero. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:15 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 5 to 8. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to a charity of their choice.
