Victor Malloy Jr.

Victor R. "Mugsy" Malloy Jr., 82, of Bradford Drive, West Springfield, a native of Adams, died Saturday at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center. Born in Adams on Jan. 15, 1920, son of Victor Malloy Sr. and Bertha Remillard Malloy, he had lived in West Springfield for 35 years. Mr. Malloy served in the Marines for 23 years and participated in the battles of Iwo Jima and Pearl Harbor during World War II. He worked at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Agawam and was a security guard at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, Conn. He was a member of the Elks and Cartier clubs in Adams. His first wife, the former Mabel Weisner, died in 1976, and his second wife, the former Beverly Hanscom, died in 1985. He leaves a niece, Roberta Skovera of Williamstown; two nephews, Roger Malloy and Michael Malloy, both of North Adams, and his longtime companion, Mary Charland. His brother, Robert W. Malloy, died in 1977. A funeral Mass will be held in St. Thomas the Apostle Church today at 11, followed by burial in St. Thomas' Cemetery. There will be no calling hours and the WEST SPRINGFIELD CURRAN-JONES FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
