Aldora Babeu

Aldora Babeu, 93, formerly of 354 Kemp Ave., died yesterday at North Adams Commons, where she had resided since Aug. 22, 1997. Born in North Adams on Aug. 17, 1908, daughter of Hormidas and Ann LaRoque Contois, she attended the former Notre Dame School. Primarily a homemaker, she was employed by the former Hoosac Cotton Mills on Union Street. She was a lifelong communicant of Notre Dame Church and a member of the Massachusetts National Guard Auxiliary. Her husband, Homer J. Babeu, whom she married in 1927, died Sept. 26, 1962. He leaves two daughters, Theresa Beauchamp of North Adams and Marion Williams of Clarksburg; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Beverly Williams Hayes, and brothers, Homer Contois, Henry Contois, Placide Contois, Albert Contois, Alfred Contois, Rene Contois and Adalord Contois. The funeral will be Monday, July 8, at 10 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church, East Main St., North Adams. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday, July 7, from 5 to 7.
