John B. Tetreault

John Baptiste Tetreault, 99, of 455 East Main St. died Saturday at Sweet Brook Health Care Center in Williamstown, where he had resided since May 31. Born in Taftville, Conn., on Sept. 11, 1902, son of Henri and Delphina Girard Tetreault, he moved to Granby, Quebec, and completed his education. He returned to Connecticut when he was 17 and later moved to Adams. He moved to North Adams in 1962. An Army veteran of World War II, he served as a private with Battery C, 630th Coast Artillery Battalion, from 1942 to 1943. Mr. Tetreault was employed in the maintenance department of the former Sprague Electric Co., retiring in 1981. He also had been employed for many years by the former Hoosac Cotton Mills, where he was a comber tender when the mills closed in the 1950s. As a young man, he was employed with the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and a member of the Cartier Club and American Legion Post 160, all in Adams, and the Sprague Retirees. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He and his wife, the former Alice M. Roulier, celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary May 19. They were married in Notre Dame Church in Adams. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Jeanne Marie Morris of North Adams; a brother, Charles Tetreault of Granby, Canada, and two granddaughters. He was predeceased by siblings Flora Gagne, Eva Tetreault, Rose Henault, Emil Tetreault, Wilfred Tetreault and Paul Tetreault. Services will be Wednesday, July 17, at 10 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Notre Dame Church. Burial will be in Maple Street Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, July 16, from 4 to 8. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for Elder Services through the funeral home, 521 West Main St., North Adams.
