Dorothy Brooks

Dorothy Brooks, 74, of 15 Hermon Ave. died Thursday at Sweet Brook Health Care Center on Cold Spring Road in Williamstown after a long illness. Born in Carrollton, Ala., on June 25, 1928, daughter of Daisy Wilborn Wilder and the late Jodie Wilder, she attended Carrollton schools. Mrs. Brooks was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. until 1980, retiring with more than 25 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Sprague Retirees. She enjoyed reading, baking, gardening and ceramics. Besides her mother, of Detroit, she leaves four daughters, Ruth Brooks, Glenda Brooks of Pittsfield, Crystal Brooks of North Adams and Marjorie Brooks of Woodland, Texas; a son, Darryl Brooks of North Adams; five sisters, Juanita Golson of Atlanta, Ethel Johnson of Rockaway, N.Y., Christine Spencer of Cincinnati, Mary Duncan of Detroit and Clara Landry of Toledo, Ohio; and two brothers, Emmet Wilder of Romulus, Mich., and James Wilder of Detroit. A daughter, Yvette Brooks, died Feb. 13, 1964, and a son, Willie Lee Brooks, died March 27, 1985, and a sister, Frances Sutherland, is deceased. The funeral will be Monday, July 15, 2002, at 1:30 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247, followed by services at 2:30 at First Baptist Church of North Adams conducted by the Rev. Joseph DeCosta, pastor. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday, July 15, from 1 until the time of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the Alzheimer's Disease Association through the funeral home.
