William E. Laston

William E. Laston, 23, of 700 N. Main St. died early Sunday morning as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident. Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 16, 1978, son of William L. Laston and Joanne Taylor Laston Froio, both of Lanesboro, he was a 1997 graduate of Mount Greylock Regional High School, where he was a linebacker on the football team for five years. At the time of his death, he had been employed by J.H. Maxymillian Construction Co. for four years. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed bow hunting, snowmobiling and motorcycling, and the Miami Dolphins. He began his athletic career playing in the Lanesboro Little League and pee wee football programs. He also enjoyed camping and playing golf. Besides his parents, he leaves his stepfather, Mark Froio of Lanesboro; a sister, Cheronne M. LaCasse of Lanesboro; a brother, Christopher M. Froio of Lanesboro; his maternal great-grandmother, Eleanor A. Taylor of Lanesboro; his maternal grandparents, Norman W. and Julia C. Taylor of Lanesboro, and his paternal grandparents, Edward J. and Cecilia T. Laston of Lanesboro. Calling hours at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be today, July 23, from 5 to 8. The Celebration of his Life will begin tomorrow at 9:15 from the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Charles' Church. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Lanesboro. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations, in care of the funeral home, may be made to the William E. Laston Memorial Fund for use by the Lanesboro Youth Athletic Fund.
