Helen E. Storey

Helen Elizabeth Storey, 94, of 19 Hillside Road, South Deerfield, formerly of Alford, died Sunday at home. She and her husband, Dr. Edward J. Storey, owned and operated Camp Half Moon in Great Barrington from 1943 until 1967. Born in New York City on Jan. 29, 1908, daughter of Phillip E. and Mary O'Connell Farley, she attended Blessed Sacrament High School and Hunter College, both in New York. She had resided in Mamaroneck, N.Y., from 1936 to 1960, then in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Alford. She moved to South Deerfield several years ago. While in Great Barrington, she volunteered with the Fairview Hospital Auxiliary, the Great Barrington Visiting Nurses Association and the Berkshire Garden Club. She was past president of the Mamaroneck Garden Club, district director of the both the New York state and Florida federated garden clubs and a life member of the American Daffodil Society. She was a member of the Larchmont (N.Y.) Junior League and past president of the Holy Cross Hospital Auxiliary and chairman of its blood bank center. She also was a member of the board of directors of Tilton Library in South Deerfield. Mrs. Storey attended St. James' Church in South Deerfield. Her husband died in 1988. She leaves a son, Edward J. Storey Jr. of Orland, Maine; a daughter, Amy S. Rokoszak of South Deerfield, and four grandchildren.
