Kenneth MacCuish

Kenneth MacCuish, 96, of Malden died Thursday at McFadden Memorial Manor in Malden. He was the father of Jean M. Dunn of Great Barrington. Born in Malden on Nov. 16, 1905, son of William and Bessie MacLeod MacCuish, he was a 1924 graduate of Malden High School and received a bachelor'sdegree from Boston University, where he attended night classes. Mr. MacCuish was employed as an accountant at Whitehead Metal Products Co. in Cambridge, which worked on the Manhattan Project during World War II. He then worked for the Air Force as a defense contract auditor at GE in Lynn, where he was employed for more than 40 years, retiring in 1970. He was a member of Maplewood Baptist Church in Malden, where he taught Sunday school, was a life deacon and served as treasurer for many years. He was a past master and treasurer of the Lodge of Stirling AF&AM of Malden; "Dad" Adviser to the Malden chapter of De Molay; past high priest of the Royal Arch chapter of the Tabernacle of Malden, and a former grand marshal of the Seventh Melrose Masonic District. He was a member of Beauseant-Palestine Commandery 041, Knights Templar and Aleppo Temple Shrine of Wilmington. He played baseball for the Malden Twi-City League and coached the Malden chapter Order of DeMolay baseball. He also coached and refereed basketball for the Malden PCAA, and played first base for the Nelson's Bakery softball team for many years. He led the "Early Bird" exercise program at the Malden YMCA for many years until he turned 91. His wife, the former Elmira Williamson, is deceased. Besides his daughter, he leaves two sons, Kenneth A. MacCuish and Donald MacCuish, both of Malden; a daughter, Bessie L. Moran of Malden; 12 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 10 at Maplewood Baptist Church, 729 Salem St., Malden, by Pastor Gregory Staples. Burial will be in Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
