James C. Allen

James C. Allen, 70, of 305 Fenn St. died Saturday afternoon at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Adams on Aug. 29, 1931, son of Clifford E. and Mary Louise Lecuyer Allen, he attended local schools. He served as a seaman first class in the Navy from January 1951 to November 1954. Mr. Allen was employed as a carpenter for several area contractors, retiring in 1990 with 38 years of service. He was a member of the Lanesboro American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans posts. He also was a member of the metal lathers' and carpenters' unions, and had trained as a boxer. He leaves three sons, James C. Allen Jr. of Franklin, N.J., Corbett J. Allen of Chicago and Kyle D. Allen of Paterson, N.J.; three daughters, Ginger Taft of Chicago, Tina L. Finian of Oklahoma and Penny Canazarri of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Marie White of Pittsfield and Rita Wigglesworth of Lanesboro, and 14 grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted tomorrow, Aug. 14, at 1:30 at DERY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph's Church. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 12:30 to 1:30 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
