Paul F. DiLego

Paul Francis DiLego, 62, of 95 Church St. died Wednesday at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. He was a longtime businessman, civic leader and city councilman. Born in North Adams on Feb. 28, 1940, son of Vincent James and Eva C. Blanquart DiLego, he was a 1958 graduate of the former St. Joseph's High School in North Adams. He also graduated from the Bentley College of Accounting and Finance in Boston in 1960. He served in the Army National Guard for six years. A certified public accountant, he joined his late mother in the operations of D&D Office Service Co. in North Adams. In 1998, his son, Paul DiLego Jr., became principal owner, and he assisted in the firm's operations. Mr. DiLego was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. He was a member of the New England Society of Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Association of Public Accountants. He also served as a city councilor from 1869 to 1977. While on the council, he served on the finance, taxi, public works, government study and City Hall building committees. He was a longtime member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 487, the Sons of Italy Lodge 704 and a former past president and member of the North Adams Kiwanis Club. He leaves his wife, the former Elizabeth Currant, whom he married Jan. 1, 1981; a son, Paul Francis DiLego Jr. of North Adams; a stepson, John Carpinello of North Adams; two sisters, Joan Dargie of Stamford, Vt., and Mary Ann DiLego of North Adams; three brothers, Vincent C. DiLego of Williamstown, Ronald R. DiLego of North Adams and James Wilson of Williamstown; and two grandchildren. Services will take place Monday at 8 at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 4 to 8. Flowers may be sent or memorial donations made to the Eileen Barrett Foundation through the funeral home, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
