Howard L. Lillie

Howard L. Lillie, 85, of 9 Church Place died Tuesday at the Commons of North Adams after a long, chronic illness. Born in North Adams on April 17, 1917, son of Louis E. and Edith L. Jones Lillie, he attended Lanesboro schools. A Navy veteran of World War II, he served with the Sea Bees in the Pacific. He was a member of Company K, 26th Infantry Division. He was last employed by GE in the power transformer division for 10 years. He was a shop steward with IUE-AFL local 255. He also worked for Budd Paper Co. and the Mullen Mayflower Inc. He retired in 1979. A serious hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Outdoor Sportsmen's Club of Adams. His first wife, the former Wilma O'Dell, died in 1964. He leaves his wife, the former Dolores Depelteau, whom he married Feb. 20, 1965, in Notre Dame Church; four sons, M. Edward Lillie of Windsor, William Lillie of Altmar, N.Y., and Stephen H. Lillie and Darrin Lillie, both of Adams; two daughters, Darcie Lillie and Debra A. Randall, both of Adams; a brother, Wilfred "Bud" Lillie of North Adams; a sister, Florence Lillie of North Adams; a stepbrother, Robert Moulton of North Adams; 11 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A prayer service will be offered Friday, Aug. 30, at 11 at MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Donald Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, section LL. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Troop 38, Boy Scouts of America through the funeral home, 6 Liberty St., Adams, MA 01220
