Victoria Lucia Cavazza

Victoria Lucia Cavazza, 105, of Pine Ridge Village, 751 Mohawk Trail, died yesterday morning at Williamstown Commons. Born in Vigo Cadore, province of Belluno, Italy, on July 18, 1897, daughter of Antonio and Orsola Vecellio DeSandre, she and her family emigrated to the United States and settled in North Adams in 1905. She attended schools in Italy and North Adams. Mrs. Cavazza was employed with the former New England Telephone Co. for 22 years, retiring in 1958. In her early years, she was employed in textile mills. A communicant of St. Anthony's Church, she was a member of its Rosary Society and had been its oldest parishioner. She also was a member of the North Adams lodge of the Sons of Italy and a former member of the Emblem Club. Her husband, Clement Francis Cavazza, whom she married June 20, 1923, died Nov. 7, 1953. She leaves a daughter, Louise D. Wilk of North Adams, with whom she made her home; three grandsons, and four great-grandchildren. A daughter, Iris C. Lilly, died Aug. 5, 1966. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Victoria Cavazza will be Wednesday at 9:30 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, followed by a Mass celebrated at 10:30 at St. Francis of Assisi Church by the Rev. Daniel J. O'Hear, pastor of St. Anthony's Church. Burial will be in the family lot in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. The St. Anthony's Rosary Society will meet at the funeral home on Tuesday at 5:15. Survivors include three grandsons, Edwin C. Wilk of Derry, N.H., Keith S. Wilk of Londonderry, N.H., and Mark C. Wilk of North Adams, and four great-grandchildren, Joshua C. Wilk and Kristen M. Wilk, both of North Adams, and Sarah M. Wilk and Christopher E. Wilk, both of Derry. A grandson, James C. Lilly, died June 11, 1995. Two sisters and a brother are deceased, Hortense "Ora" DeSandre, Marile Darin and Arrigo DeSandre.
