Phillip Joseph LeClair Sr.

Phillip Joseph LeClair Sr., 67, formerly of 4 Park Terrace, died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center. He had been a patient at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington for eight months. Born in Pittsfield on May 5, 1935, son of Frank and Flora LaDouceur LeClair, he attended local schools. He had resided in Dalton for 16 years. He served in the Navy from Feb. 13, 1956, to Jan. 28, 1960. Mr. LeClair was employed as a truck driver and construction worker for LaDouceur and Petricca construction companies, and as a truck driver for Berkshire-Pittsfield Septic Tank. He retired as a bus driver for Grey Coach Lines in 1992 after three years of service. He was a former communicant of Notre Dame Church. An active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9566 in Dalton, he served as a past commander and had been an active member of the color guard for funerals. He was a sergeant-at-arms of District 9 for two years. He leaves three sons, Phillip J. LeClair Jr. of Agawam, Frank J. LeClair Sr. of Pittsfield and Alfred H. LeClair of Hinsdale; a daughter, Deanna Downey of Richmond, Va.; a brother, Kenneth J. LeClair Sr. of Pittsfield; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and his longtime companion, Marie A. Virgilio of Dalton, with whom he resided. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Full military honors will be conducted for Phillip Joseph LeClair, who died Tuesday, Sept. 17. The funeral will be conducted Friday, Sept. 20, at 10:30 at DERY FUNERAL HOME, Pittsfield by the Rev. Lee Smith. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Better Breathers Group in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
