Diletta C. Marzotto

Diletta C. Marzotto, 93, of 39 Stockbridge Road died Sunday at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington. She and her husband, Tarcisio B. Marzotto, owned and operated the Card Lake Hotel from 1939 until his death in 1968. She continued its operation until 1970. Born in West Stockbridge on Aug. 11, 1909, daughter of Valentino and Maria Monis Dus, she attended local schools. Mrs. Marzotto also worked as a cook and caregiver for Mrs. Madden at Madden Open Heart, a camp for kids who have had open heart surgery. A communicant of St. Patrick's Church, she was a charter member of the West Stockbridge Greater Years club and was honored for 30 years of membership. She enjoyed playing bingo , crocheting, knitting and gardening. Her husband, whom she married Jan. 10, 1927, in St. Patrick's Church, died Dec. 25, 1968. She leaves a son, Francis Marzotto of West Stockbridge; two daughters, Rose Girdler and Irene Skorput, both of West Stockbridge; a sister, Yolanda A. Dus of West Stockbridge; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE --The funeral for Diletta C. Marzotto, who died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, will be tomorrow, Sept. 25, at 9 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 in St. Patrick's Church by the Rev. Steven F. McGuigan, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery. The family will receive friends today, Sept. 24, from 4 to 7. Expressions of sympathy in Mrs. Marzotto's memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to St. Patrick's Church, both in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Gail Girdler, on Feb. 18, 1994.
