Merle William Wynn

Merle William Wynn, 71, of Bow Wow Road died Sunday at home. Born in Pittsfield on July 31, 1931, son of Merle A. and the late Mildred Parker Wynn, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. He received a bachelor's degree in music from Boston University in 1952 and a master of arts degree from Columbia University in 1953. He served with the Coast Guard. He was employed as an electronic technician in the medical equipment and instrument field, retiring in the early 1990s. He was an avid ham radio operator, using the handle K2KR. He was an accomplished violinist. His wife, the former Dorothy A. Hutt, died Feb. 16, 1988. Besides his father of Sheffield, he leaves a son, Terence Merle Wynn of Stockholm, N.J.; a daughter, Laurie Wynn Fiedler of Wayne, N.J., and five grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Wynn, Merle, of Sheffield. He is also survived by three granddaughters, Danielle Marie and Katie Alice Wynn and Amber Joy Fiedler, and two grandsons, Andrew Wynn and Adam Wynn Fiedler. The funeral will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 28, at 11 at Calvary Christian Church, North Plain Road, Great Barrington, by Pastor Jerry Vargo. Burial will follow in Sheffield Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 to 7 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME.
