Louise Suzanne Girardey

Louise Suzanne Girardey, 83, formerly of 110 Housatonic St., died yesterday at Springside of Pittsfield. Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 20, 1918, daughter of Francis A. and Ernestine Oeschger Chaourt, she graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1937. She attended the former Berkshire Business College and later graduated from the former Henry W. Bishop Memorial School of Nursing in 1940. She was employed as a registered nurse in the office of Dr. Fred H. Vohr of Lee for 20 years. She and her husband, George, also ran the town taxi for several years. They also took in house guests in their residence for more than 50 years. She enjoyed music and the arts, playing the piano and gardening. She was involved in several medical charities throughout her career in nursing. Her husband, George W. "Bus" Girardey, whom she married Nov. 8, 1941, died Feb. 17, 1984. She leaves a daughter, Diane E. McDonough of Richmond, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Richard W. Girardey, who died April 16, 1989. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Louise Girardey leaves her five grandchildren, April Jenks, Gregory Girardey, Timothy M. McDonough, Shane McDonough and Gerine Girardey. Also her five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Anthony, Kenneth, Meredith and Rachael. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 at the KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee with the Rev. Bert Marshall, pastor of the First Congregational Church in Lee, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7. Friends wishing may make donations to the Alzheimer's Research Association in c/o the Kelly Funeral Home.
