Claude H. Burke, 100, of New Marlborough Road died Friday morning at Laurel Lake Center in Lenox, where he had been a resident since March. Born in Monterey on Feb. 9, 1902, son of John T. and Mary Dowd Burke, he attended Monterey School. Mr. Burke was employed as caretaker of the Eaton estate, Brookmead, retiring in 1975. He was a life member of Monterey United Church of Christ and of the Isaac Walton League in Otis. His wife, the former Grace Kimberly, died Oct. 19, 2001. He leaves a son, Russell Burke of Becket; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mr. Claude H. Burke died Oct. 18, 2002. He also leaves five grandchildren, William, Michael, Cindy, Timothy and Joseph; five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Victoria, Angela, Nicholas-Michael and Casey, and a great-great-granddaughter, Jerlynn-Abigail. He was predeceased by a grandson, Russell Burke Jr. The funeral will be conducted Thursday, Oct. 24, at 1 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Elizabeth Goodman, pastor of Monterey United Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Corashire Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
