Thaddeus Stanley Dziegiel

Thaddeus Stanley Dziegiel, 81, of 128 North Summer St. died early yesterday morning at North Adams Regional Hospital shortly after being admitted. Born in Adams on May 19, 1921, son of Stanislaw and Apolonia Kut Dziegiel, he attended local schools. Mr. Dziegiel was employed in the power transformer division of GE in Pittsfield for 18 years, retiring in 1983. Earlier, he had worked for 25 years at the former Arnold Print Works and for several years at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church, where he was a longtime usher, collector and eucharistic minister, and a member of the St. Stanislaus Kostka Society. He worked for the annual Catholic Stewardship Appeal for more than 25 years and was involved in the annual parish picnics and bazaars. He also was a scoutmaster with the former Boy Scout Troop 56 and was known for his gardening ability. He enjoyed hunting with his beagle. He and his wife, the former Sophie M. Sniezek, celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary Oct. 5. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Paul J. Dziegiel and John P. Dziegiel, both of Adams, and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Thaddeus Stanley Dziegiel will be tomorrow, Oct. 22, at 9:15 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Eugene Suszek, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be today, Oct. 21, from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus' Church or School through the funeral home. Survivors include two grandchildren, Sarah and Joshua Dziegiel, both of Yorktown, Va., and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Casimer, Walter and Adolph Dziegiel, and a sister, Mrs. Emilia Kruzel.
