Norman J. Lisee

Norman J. Lisee, 77, of 235 East Quincy St., founder of Norm's Airport & Limousine Service and owner of Veteran's Taxi Service, died Monday at North Adams Commons, following a long illness. Born in Adams on Feb. 10, 1925, son of Adelard and Mary Kaminski Lisee, he attended local schools, including the former Renfrew School and C.T. Plunkett School. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a aviation machinist's mate and petty officer second class. He was decorated with the American theater and Victory ribbons. He was first employed by GE for four years, then the former Arnold Print Works for eight years. He founded Norm's Airport & Limousine Service in 1958. Mr. Lisee was a communicant of Notre Dame Church in Adams. A former deputy sheriff, he was a member of the uniform division he helped to form in 1963. He was a past member of the Berkshire County Deputy Sheriff's Association of Massachusetts for 18 years and a member and sergeant in the North Adams Police Auxiliary. Active in the Fall Foliage Parade for many years with his antique cars and mini-cars, he also participated in parades in New York and Vermont. Other memberships include the Franklin Club of Carenovia, N.Y., the Cadillac & Lasalle Club Inc., the Green Mountain Antique Car Club of Bennington, Vt., and the Kaiser & Frazer Owners Club International. He was a member of the American Legion Post 160 in Adams, the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 63 in North Adams, and a member of the North Adams Lions Club. He served on the North Adams Traffic Commission for many years. He leaves a daughter, Laurie Chittenden of Adams; two sisters, Dorothy Varuzzo of North Adams and Irene Charbonneau of West Springfield; a brother, George Lisee of Adams; and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Norman J. Lisee will take place Friday at 10 at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7. Memorial donations are suggested for American Arthritis Foundation, American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home. Survivors include two grandchildren, Nathan and Lindsay Chittenden, and son-in-law, Mark Chittenden. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward H. Lisee, who died April 16, 1971.
