Arnold George Kittler

Arnold George Kittler, 89, of 19 West Road died Monday evening at the Sweetbrook Health Care Center in Williamstown. Born in Adams on June 18, 1913, son of Emil and Ida Wiesner Kittler, he attended local schools. He was employed by GE in the power transformer and ordnance systems departments for more than 30 years. He retired in 1975. Prior to that, he worked at the former Arnold Print Works in Adams for several years. Mr. Kittler was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame/St. Thomas Aquinas. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs and the Adams Turn Hall. He was known for his one-acre garden in which he produced a vast array of fruits and vegetables until two years ago. He also built his home. In his earlier years, he enjoyed bowling, skiing, card games and taking his dog mushrooming. He leaves his wife of 64 years, the former Irene Paquette, whom he married Oct. 1, 1938. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Robert Arnold Kittler of Pittsfield; two brothers, Fred Kittler of California and Ernest Kittler of New York; two grandchildren and two great-grandsons. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Arnold George Kittler will take place Thursday, Nov. 21, at 10 at Notre Dame Church in Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours at the TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., will be Thursday 8:30 until the time of the funeral. Memorial donations may be made to the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas through the funeral home. He leaves his daughter-in-law, Joanne Kittler; granddaughter, Ericka Kittler King and her husband, Paul; grandson, R. Derrick J. Kittler and his wife, Brittany; and two great-grandsons, Kolby and Kierin Kittler, all of Pittsfield. He was predeceased by a brother, Emil Kittler, and four sisters, Louise McCann, Doris Baker, Gertrude Scholz and Edith Gamache.
