Elizabeth May "Betty" Barton

Elizabeth May "Betty" Barton, 74, of 261 Mohawk Forest Blvd. died Monday at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she was admitted Saturday. Born in North Adams on May 12, 1928, daughter of John W. and Jane Gonyea Trombley, she attended the former Notre Dame Elementary School and high school. She was employed as a customer service representative at Coakley, Pierpan, Dolan & Armata Insurance Co., North Adams, for 23 years, retiring in 1990. Earlier, she had worked for Berkshire Gas Co., New England Telephone Co., and the former Brewer-Perkins Auto Agency, all in North Adams. Mrs. Barton was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church. Her husband, Daniel S. Barton, whom she married June 26, 1948, died March 30, 1971. She leaves three nephews and a niece. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Elizabeth Barton will be Friday at 9:15 from the AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in Our Lady of Mercy Church. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations by made to Our Lady of Mercy Church in care of the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247. She leaves a sister-in-law, Annette Trombley of Pittsfield.
