Ethel L. Bartley

Ethel L. Bartley, 92, formerly of West Springfield, died Friday at Noble Horizons Nursing Home in Salisbury, Conn., where she had resided since 1999. She was the mother of Barbara Person of Sheffield. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., on July 25, 1910, daughter of Charles and Fannie Nickle Kable, she was a 1928 graduate of Evander Childs High School in New York City. While in West Springfield, she was active in the Women's Auxiliary of the Good Shepherd Church and the Ramapog Organization. She enjoyed painting, gardening, reading and crafts. Her husband, Alfred R. Bartley, whom she married Sept. 29, 1934, in New York City, died in 1988. Besides her daughter, she leaves two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Ethel L. Bartley died Nov. 29, 2002. Doting grandmother of Eric and Joshua; cherished great-grandmother of William and Olivia; aunt of Edward E. Kable. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles Kable. A service celebrating the life of Ethel L. Bartley will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 7, at 11 at Christ Church in Sheffield by the Rev.
