Adele Mary Kozik

Adele Mary Kozik, 98, of Greylock Apartments, Myrtle Street, died Thursday morning at Sweet Brook in Williamstown. Born in Jasowa, Poland, on Feb. 1, 1904, daughter of John and Maryanna Walczak Rymarski, she came to Adams at age 6 with her family and attended local schools and graduated from Wilfred Beauty Academy in Boston. She became a citizen in 1967. Mrs. Kozik and her husband, Isadore F. Kozik, owned and operated the former Adele's Beauty Salon for 50 years, retiring in 1980. She also trained area hairdressers and cosmetologists for many years. Previously, she had worked for several years at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality. She was a member of Court Sancta Regina 904 Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Adams Senior Citizens, the Adams Study Club and the National Cosmetologists Association. She also was a member and past president of the Northern Berkshire Hairdressers Association. Her husband, whom she married Sept. 19, 1928, died June 17, 1981. She leaves a son, Donald J. Kozik of Adams; a daughter, Barbara McKenna of Adams; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Adele M. Kozik will be Saturday at 8 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church celebrated by the Rev. Eugene Suszek, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Members of the St. Stanislaus Rosary Sodality will meet at the funeral home at 3:45 to recite the rosary and pay their respects to their late sister. Memorial donations may be made to VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital through the funeral home. She leaves several nieces and nephews. A grandson, Alan St. Cyr, died in 1988. She was predeceased by a brother, Edwin Rymarski and a sister, Sophie Strzepek.
