Mary Margaret Czubryt

Mary Margaret Czubryt, 53, of 22 Bieniek Ave. died early Thursday morning at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, following a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Born in Adams on March 19, 1949, daughter of Charlotte Beasley Marcil and the late Oliver Marcil, she was a 1967 graduate of the former Adams High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the former North Adams State College in 1971 and a master's degree in education in 1974, also from NASC. A 30-year teacher in the Adams-Cheshire Regional School District, she taught first grade at Cheshire Elementary School until this past fall. Mrs. Czubryt was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and had served as a lector at St. Thomas' Church since 1985. She was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the National Education Association. Besides her mother, of Adams, she leaves her husband, Henry J. Czubryt, whom she married June 21, 1974; a son, Jonathan D. Czubryt at home; a daughter, Rachel M. Czubryt at home; and a sister, Nancy Gwozdz of Cheshire. Another daughter, Rebecca Anna Czubryt, died Feb. 21, 1980. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mary Czubryt will be Monday at 9 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Thomas Aquinas Church celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to David's House, a lodge for children receiving treatment at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Dartmouth, N.H., where Mrs. Czubryt received care during her illness, through the funeral home. She leaves two nieces, Sarah Gwozdz and Alicia Gwozdz and a nephew, Adam Gwozdz, all of Cheshire, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Mary dedicated her life to her students at Cheshire Elementary School and will be sorely missed by the staff and student body.
