Susan Elizabeth Wilbert

Susan Elizabeth Wilbert, 52, of 1 Berkshire Square died Sunday evening at home of cancer. Born in Portland, Ore., on Dec. 30, 1949, daughter of the late Joseph O. and Patricia M. McCluskey Schertler, she moved to Ridgewood, N.J., as a child and attended schools there. She earned a bachelor of science degree from Merrimack College in Andover in 1972. She lived in Ashfield for many years before moving to Adams in 1988. Ms. Wilbert was vice president of Eco-Genesis Co. in Pittsfield for 10 years until ill health forced her retirement in 2001. Before that, she operated an asbestos-removal company, the former Quality Abatement, for a year, and worked for the former Clean Waste Corp. As an environmentalist from 1988 to 1992. She also worked in the environmental health and safety department at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst for several years. She attended the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas. She leaves her primary caregivers, Harold and Isabelle Girard of Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Susan E. Schertler Wilbert will be Thursday at 9:15 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Notre Dame Church, Adams. Burial will be in Maple Street Cemetery at a later date. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Dec. 18, from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Susan E. Wilbert Scholarship Fund through the funeral home.
