William P. Lasch

William P. Lasch, 83, of Route 57 died Wednesday at the Great Barrington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 13, 1919, son of William and Vida Bliss Lasch, he attended local schools. A World War II Army veteran, he enlisted on Dec. 27, 1941, and served with the 80th Airborne AA Battalion. He worked as an anti-tank gun crewman and received the Glider and Expert Rifle badges and other medals. He served in Normandy, the Rhineland, the Ardennes and Central Europe. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 23, 1945. Mr. Lasch was employed as a machinist at various companies throughout the years and retired from Carr Metal Products in the late 1980s. His wife, the former Helen Flint, died in 1997. He leaves two sons, William Peter Lasch Jr. of Winsted, Conn., and Paul Lasch of Sandisfield, and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mr. William P. Lasch died Dec. 18, 2002. He also leaves two grandchildren, Paul and Nicole. Services will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours.
