James J. Maniatis

James J. Maniatis, 52, of 70 Donna Ave. died yesterday morning at Kimball Farms Nursing Center in Lenox after a long illness. He owned and operated the former Johnny's Restaurant on Cheshire Road for many years. Born in Pittsfield on April 3, 1950, son of John E. Maniatis and the late Ann Bicoules Maniatis, he was a 1968 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mr. Maniatis was a communicant of St. George's Greek Orthodox Church and a member of American Helenic Educational Progressive Association. Besides his father, of Pittsfield, he leaves a son, Austin Maniatis of Vernon, Conn.; a daughter, Meghan Maniatis of Vernon, and two brothers, Timothy J. Maniatis of Bethesda, Md., and Peter J. Maniatis of Pittsfield. FUNERAL NOTICE -- James J. Maniatis, 52, died in Pittsfield on Saturday, Dec. 28. The funeral will be tomorrow, Dec. 31, at 9 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., with services at 10 at St. George's Greek Orthodox Church celebrated by the Rev. John Kostas. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Dec. 30, from 2 to 6 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Greek Orthodox Church in care of the funeral home.
