David Miner Hill

David Miner Hill, 60, formerly of Wilshire Drive, died Saturday evening at Providence Care Center in Lenox, where he had resided for 11 months. Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 6, 1943, son of Lester and Evelyn Miner Hill, he attended schools in Pittsfield. He had resided on Wilshire Drive for 25 years. Mr. Hill was employed for five years as fleet mechanic for Coca-Cola Co. in Pittsfield, retiring in 1989 because of poor health. He had first worked as a maintenance mechanic for GE in Pittsfield for 10 years, and later for the city of Pittsfield for five years. He was a member of the Night Cruzers and restored old cars. He also enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. He and his wife, the former Cynthia L. Madewell, were married July 24, 1965. Besides his wife, of Pittsfield, he leaves a son, David "Shane" Hill, who is stationed with the Coast Guard on Cape Cod; two daughters, Helen E. Martin of Tampa, Fla., and Jennifer L. Hill of Sandwich; two brothers, Lester "Bing" Hill of Cheshire and John A. Hill of Virginia Beach, Va., and five grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for David M. Hill, 60, who died Feb. 15, 2003, will be held Wednesday at 8:15 from DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St., Dalton, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 9 at St. Agnes' Church by the Rev. Daniel Brunton. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pittsfield, where the Rev. Christopher Malatesta will offer prayers at the grave. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home. He is also survived by his five adored grandchildren, Austin Martin, Taylor Anne Martin, Luke Martin, Katlyn Hill and Dalton Hill.
