Rose Marie Sweeney

Rose Marie Sweeney, 86, formerly of 287 Cross Road, died Thursday at North Adams Commons, where she had resided since Feb. 13, 1998. Born in St. Rose, Quebec, Canada, on Aug. 16, 1916, daughter of Henry and Henriette Thibauld Warren, she was educated in Quebec schools. Mrs. Sweeney was employed by Keuffel and Esser Engineering Supply in Long Island City, N.Y., as a salesclerk until moving to North Adams in 1967. She worked for several years for Scarafoni Real Estate Co. as a clerk until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church. Her husband, Nelson Henry Sweeney, whom she married Dec. 6, 1952, died Dec. 3, 1992. She leaves two stepsons, Robert Edward Sweeney of Leesburg, Va., and Harold Haley Sweeney of Pittsfield; seven step-grandchildren, and several step-great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Rose Marie Warren Sweeney will be today at 9:30 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Francis' Church. Burial will follow in the family plot at Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be today at 8:30 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the North Adams Commons Activities Fund through the funeral home. Other survivors include a niece, Norma Fogarty of Brookfield, Conn., and two nephews, Edward Fusco of Long Island, N.Y., and Anthony Fusco of Queens, N.Y., and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Blanche Mandato, Gabrielle Warren and Bernadette Clark.
