Russell J. Yetz

Russell J. Yetz, 74, of Devon Road died Saturday evening at home. Born in West Orange, N.J., on May 8, 1928, son of Rocco and Lillian Shrump Yetz, he moved to this area as a child. He attended Wayside School for Boys in South Sudbury, which was sponsored by Henry Ford, and graduated from Pittsfield High School. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a swimming instructor. Mr. Yetz owned and operated the Lenox Amoco Service Station from 1969 to 1981. He also taught at Taconic High School in Pittsfield in the automotive department, retiring in 1988. From 1957 to 1969, he operated the Lee service station on the west side of the Massachusetts Turnpike. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, where he was a eucharistic minister for more than 20 years, and assisted in the renovation of the addition to St. Mary's School. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, golfing, hunting, water skiing, walking in the woods and spending winters in Florida. He and his wife, the former Esther Sbrozzi, were married June 18, 1949. Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters, Cindy L. Dickson of Lanesboro, Joanne M. Yetz-Aldape of Stow and Marilyn Y. Miles of Falls Village, Conn., and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Russell Yetz leaves two grandsons, Pablo Aldape and Robert Russell Miles. The funeral will be Thursday at 8:15 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Mary's Church in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Friends wishing may make donations to St. Mary's School Library Fund, in c/o Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
