Guy A. Marchetti

Guy A. Marchetti, 87, of 11 Laurel St. died Friday at home. Born in Great Barrington on Sept. 15, 1915, son of John and Theresa Marchetti, he moved to Lenox in 1919 and was a 1935 graduate of Lenox High School. He returned to Great Barrington in 1940. A Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the Pacific. Mr. Marchetti was a box maker for GE in Pittsfield for 34 1/2 years, retiring in 1975. He was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church and active in its bazaars, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Mount Everett Council 513; the Bishop Conaty Assembly, Knights of Columbus 0395, and James A. Modolo VFW Post 8348. Mr. Marchetti also enjoyed playing golf. Mr. Marchetti and his wife, the former Mary Masoero, were married Oct. 12, 1940, in St. Peter's Church. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, James P. Marchetti of Washington, D.C., and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Guy A. Marchetti, who died March 7, 2003, will be tomorrow, March 11, at 9 from BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Corpus Christi Church celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Jutt, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Guy's memory may be made to the Corpus Christi Building Fund in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. He also leaves two grandchildren, Thomas and Emily Marchetti.
