James Thomas Malloy Sr

James Thomas Malloy Sr., 87, formerly of Richmond Hill, died yesterday afternoon at Williamstown Commons, where he had resided for several years. Born in Adams on Dec. 24, 1915, son of John Malloy and Exena Bellard Malloy Lemieux, he attended local schools. Mr. Malloy worked for the Cheshire Department of Public Works for several years, retiring in 1983. He also had owned and operated a farm and a logging business. He enjoyed horses and competed in horse-pulling events for many years, a hobby that has been continued by several of his sons. His wife, the former Rita May Cross, whom he married Jan. 25, 1936, died Sept. 5, 1991. He leaves six sons, Thomas Malloy, James T. Malloy Jr. and Paul Malloy, all of Cheshire, George Malloy and Edward Malloy, both of Adams, and Alfred Malloy of Columbus, Ohio; seven daughters, Joan Lagowski and Betty Jarvis, both of Cheshire, Jean Jones Beagle of Salem, N.Y., Rita Beaudry and Judy Jolin, both of North Adams, Sylvia Noto of Pittsfield and Mary Carpenter of Williamstown; three sisters, Ruth Horn of Adams, Mary Choquette of California and Ethel Radlowski of Connecticut; 38 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. Another son, Roy Malloy, died Feb. 23, 2002. Seven other children died in infancy. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for James Thomas Malloy Sr. will be Saturday, March 15, at 9 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church in Adams by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home. He was predeceased by three brothers, Harold, George and Louis Malloy and two sisters, Dorothy Clairmont and Sylvia Demsie.
