Joan M. Gwozdz Raimer

Joan M. Gwozdz Raimer, 55, of 22 Water St. died yesterday at home, following a battle with cancer. Born in Adams on March 11, 1948, daughter of Joseph P. Gwozdz and Mary S. Styczynski Gwozdz, she attended Adams schools and graduated from the former Adams Memorial High School in 1966. She attended the former North Adams State College, where she majored in computer science. At the time of her illness, she was an administrative assistant with the office support unit of Williams College's alumni office. Previously, she worked for the former Waverly Fabric Products for 17 years, until it suspended operations. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Church. She leaves her husband, Bruce J. Raimer Sr., whom she married on Aug. 19, 1966, in St. Stanislaus' Church. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Bruce J. Raimer Jr. of Adams; two daughters, Christine Haring of North Adams and Sharon A. Michalenko of Adams; a brother, Joseph P. Gwozdz of Greenfield; three sisters, Mary J. Denault of Adams, Nancy Foisy of Savoy and Theresa Gwozdz of West Milford, N.J., and six grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Joan M. Raimer of Adams died Thursday, March 13, 2003. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated for her life on Saturday at 10 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, with the Rev. Vincent B. Germace of the Marian Fathers as celebrant. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday from 5 to 8 at the McBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Liberty St., Adams. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory to the Hospice/VNA of North Berkshire at 310 Curran Highway, North Adams, MA 01247, or through the funeral home, which is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Raimer is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
