The Rev. Canon Linda Lucille Strohmier

The Rev. Canon Linda Lucille Strohmier, 57, of Pennsgrove, N.J., died Friday morning in Great Barrington, where she had been visiting her daughter, Margaret Strohmier, and volunteering at Life Needs Co-op. Born in Brazil, Ind., on Oct. 31, 1945, daughter of William and Wanita Hamm Shearer, she was a graduate of Brazil High School. She also graduated magna cum laude from both Indiana and Princeton universities. An Episcopal priest, she preached in various parishes in New York and New Jersey. Her husband, David Strohmier, is deceased. Besides her daughter, of Great Barrington, she leaves her stepmother, Rosemary Shearer of Florida. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for the Rev. Canon Linda Lucille Shearer Strohmier will be conducted today, March 17, at 1:30 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington by the Rev. Peter Skaller, pastor of Christian Community Church in Hillsdale, N.Y. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 22, at 10 at St. James' Episcopal Church in Great Barrington, with the Rev. Catherine Woods Richardson, rector, officiating. A celebration gathering will be held following the service at Life Needs Co-op, 205 North Plain Road, Great Barrington. Linda brought to the world a love of theater and community. Her singing was inspiring and vibrant, and her laughter was hearty and infectious. People sought Linda out for counsel, understanding and warmth. She will be greatly missed by her daughter and by her many friends. She also leaves her stepmother, Rosemary Shearer, and her Uncle Jack, both of Florida. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Life Needs Co-op through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
