William H. DuFresne

William H. DuFresne, 85, a longtime resident of Prospect Street, died Friday at home. Born in Great Barrington on Dec. 10, 1917, son of Jere and Ann Flynn DuFresne, he was a 1935 graduate of the former Searles High School. An Army veteran of World War II, he attained the rank of captain. Mr. DuFresne was an accountant for many years with the former Home Gas Co., retiring in the late 1980s. Prior to that, he was employed with Wheeler & Taylor for several years. His wife, the former Geraldine Watson, whom he married Dec. 26, 1942, in St. Peter’s rectory, died Dec. 24, 1993. He leaves a sister-in-law, Hazel DuFresne of Richmond, and nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for William DuFresne will be conducted Tuesday, March 25, at 2 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 until the time of the service. He was predeceased by both of his brothers, John F. DuFresne, who was killed during World War II, and Raymond F. DuFresne. He leaves a sister-in-law, Hazel DuFresne of Richmond, several nieces, nephews and cousins, including Raymond W. DuFresne of Pittsfield, Paul L. DuFresne of Phelps, N.Y., and Arizona, Dr. Edwin M. Eldridge of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and John M. Watson of Great Barrington, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
