William Roy Kinna

William Roy Kinna, 51, of 2 Glenns Road died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 16, 1951, son of Bernice Vincent Kinna of Lanesboro and the late William F. Kinna, he attended Lanesboro schools and was a 1969 graduate of Mount Greylock Regional High School in Williamstown. He graduated in 1970 from the Charlottesville (N.C.) School of Heavy Equipment. Mr. Kinna was employed as a carpenter and plumber for area and out-of-state contractors for 30years, retiring in 1999 because of ill health. He was a communicant of St. Charles’ Church in Pittsfield. He was a Little League coach for six years and an avid Red Sox and SteepleCats fan. Also an avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Lenox Sportsmen’s Club and vice president of the Tri-State Bow Shooting Club. He enjoyed boating with his brother on Lake Champlain. Besides his mother, he leaves a brother, Michael W. Kinna of Alford; three sisters, JoAnn R. Henault of Pittsfield, Maureen K. Jennings of New Ashford and Gail A. Smith of Irasburg, Vt. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for William Roy “Bill” Kinna, who died Sunday, March 23, 2003, will be Thursday, March 27, at 9:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 at St. Charles’ Church by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Wednesday, from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lenox Sportsmen’s Club’s youth programs or to the charity of one’s choice in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. In his concern for others, it was his wish that his organs be donated to benefit others. He was a wonderful uncle and the biggest tease for his nieces and nephews, whom he enjoyed watching grow up: David J. and Paul W. Lamon, Laurie K. Appel, Michael S. Kinna, Samuel A. and Maggie K. Jennings, Hannah M. and Jacob R. Smith, and his great-niece, Ashley M. Appel. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Nancy Kinna, and his brothers-in-law, James R. Henault, Steven A. Jennings and Jeffrey R. Smith.
