Adele Lavigne, 74
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Adele Lavigne, 74, of 59 Gallup St. died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she was admitted one week ago.
Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, on Sept. 17, 1928, daughter of Louis and Anna Marie Langlois Grenier, she attended schools there. She moved to North Adams in 1955.
Mrs. Lavigne was employed by the former Alice's Curtain Shop for four years, retiring in 1989. Prior to that, she had worked at the former Sprague Electric, Hoosac Cotton Mills, Hunter Machine, C.B. Sports and Wall-Streeter companies.
She was a longtime communicant of Notre Dame Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending summers with her husband on Lac Megantic in Quebec.
She leaves her husband, Roger Lavigne, whom she married Sept. 1, 1956.
A daughter, Linda Lavigne, died in infancy.
FUNERAL NOTICE - A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Lavigne will be celebrated Friday, March 28, at 11 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 at AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247.
