Rita R. Jones

Rita R. Jones, 85, of Hancock Road died Monday evening at Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown following a brief illness. Born in North Adams on April 2, 1917, daughter of Mederick and Albertine Roberts Bedard, she attended local schools. Mrs. Jones was employed by the former Cornish Wire in Williamstown until retiring in 1977. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and cooking. Her husband, Lester E. Jones, whom she married March 17, 1943, died Feb. 3, 1989. She leaves a daughter Christine Bradich of Hancock, three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Rita R. Jones will be conducted at Second Congregational Church of South Williamstown on Friday, April 4, at 11 by the Rev. Penny Rich Smith. A reception will follow in the church hall. Calling hours at George M. Hopkins Funeral Home will be Thursday from 6 to 8. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown, at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Second Congregational Church through the funeral home, 61-67 Spring St., Williamstown, MA 01267. She leaves three granddaughters, Tammy Churchill of Williamstown, Bobby Basinger of Stephentown, N.Y., and Kerry Bradich of Hancock; and four great-grandchildren, Kristopher and Roslyn Basinger of Stephentown and James and Henry Churchill of Williamstown. Predeceased by her brother, Robert Bedard, and her sister, Marie Kimball.
