Walter Frederick Bishop

Walter Frederick Bishop, 79, of 2130 Mohawk Trail died Friday evening at Williamstown Commons. Born in Adams on May 3, 1923, son of Marion and Josephine Noga Biskup, he attended schools in Adams and North Adams. A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he served as a private. Mr. Bishop was employed with Williamstown Roofing Co. for 45 years, retiring in 1985. He was a communicant of St. Francis’ Church. He enjoyed bowling when he was younger and enjoyed sports and fishing. He and his wife, the former Beatrice Elizabeth Burdick, would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary May 26. They were married in St. Stanislaus’ Church in Adams. Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters, Gail A. Bishop-Davis of Merrimac, Laurie J. Hendrix of Adams and Rebekah M. Kanelos of Marietta, Ga.; a son, Sean F. Bishop of the town of Florida; a sister, Isabelle Unis of North Adams, and 10 grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Walter Frederick Bishop will be Thursday at 11 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will take place at a later date in Church Cemetery, Florida. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 3 to 7. Memorial donations are suggested for the American Cancer Society through the funeral home. Survivors include 10 grandchildren, Stephen Davis, Jamin Robinson, Jessica Markham, Joshua Hendrix, Cristopher Kanelos, Cassie Kanelos, Sean Bishop, Zachary Bishop, Sara Bishop and Brady Bishop. Predeceased by two brothers, Chester and Matthew “Pete” Biskup, and a sister, Stephanie Morin.
