Helen Bard

Helen Bard, 90, of Oak Park, Clermont, Fla., formerly of 4 Columbia St., died Friday at Ocoee (Fla.) Health Care Center. Born in Adams on July 9, 1912, daughter of Joseph and Anna Leppelt Schneider, she graduated from the former Adams High School in 1929. She moved to Florida in 1999. Mrs. Bard worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams as a supervisor for 25 years, retiring in 1975. Prior to that, she worked for several years in the former Arnold Print Works’ Jones Division and for several years at the former Auto Replacement Parts in North Adams. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas. While in Florida, she enjoyed the music at Disney World. She enjoyed reading and bowling, and was an NBA fan. Last year, she won the silver medal in an “Olympic” spelling contest in Oak Park. Her husband, Russell Bard, whom she married July 11, 1936, died Feb. 22, 1965. She leaves a daughter, Gail Coussoule of Windermere, Fla., and two grandchildren. A son, Donald Bard, is deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Arrangements are incomplete. The funeral for Helen Bard will take place in St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Adams and burial in Maple Street Cemetery; the times will be announced at a later date at the convenience of the family. Donations in her memory may be made to the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas or to the Adams Ambulance Fund through TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, which is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Bard is survived by two grandchildren, Lisa and Mark Coussoule, both of Florida, and several nieces and nephews. A son, Donald Bard, and a sister, Agnes Burns, are deceased.
