Jeannette L. Girard, 47
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Jeannette L. Girard, 47, of 71 State St., Northampton, a native of North Adams, died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton.
Born on April 28, 1955, daughter of John Girard of North Adams and Cecile Marcoux Girard LaFountain of Palatka, Fla., she attended local schools, including the former Notre Dame School and McCann Technical School.
She also attended Holyoke Community College. She resided in Pittsfield from 1975 to 1981 and moved to Northampton in 1982.
Mrs. Girard volunteered with the Stavros Independent Living Center in Amherst and was politically active in the cause to help handicapped people.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Northampton and had a love for animals.
Besides her parents, she leaves her stepmother, Patricia Girard of North Adams; five sisters, Jeanne Harvey and Diane Collins, both of North Adams, Antoinette Hean of Easthampton, Carol Likar of Orange Park, Fla., and Renee Choquette of Vernon, Conn.; and three brothers, Steven LaFountain of Middleburg, Fla., Mark LaFountain of Satsuma, Fla., and James LaFountain of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
She was predeceased by a sister, Suzanne Girard Bourdon.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Memorial Mass for Mrs. Girard will be held Saturday, April 12, at 10:30 in St. Mary's Church, Northampton. Burial will be in Florida at a later date.
