Donald G. Gustafson

Donald G. Gustafson, 72, of Sportsman’s Lane died yesterday at home. Born in Detroit on April 20, 1930, son of Oscar and Allean Heymann Gustafson, he graduated from high school in Norwalk, Ohio, and attended North Carolina State University. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Gustafson was employed by Mead Corp., now MeadWestvaco, where he was manager of the data processing unit. He retired in 1980. He moved to Alford in 1966 and to West Stockbridge in 1971. While in Alford, he served as assistant fire chief. He was a member of Cincinnatus Lodge AF & AM, past president of the West Stockbridge Sportsmen’s Club, and a member of the Adam Budz VFW Post 8183 in Housatonic and the Joseph A. Lombardi Post 254 American Legion in West Stockbridge. He enjoyed boats and deep sea fishing. He and his wife, the former Chola McFadden, would have celebrated their 48th anniversary May 1. They were married in Dayton, Ohio. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Denise A. Gustafson, at home; a son, Eric Gustafson of Pittsfield; a sister, Janet Sabin of Ocala, Fla.; three brothers, Charles Gustafson of Raleigh, N.C., Raymond Gustafson of Atlanta and Richard Gustafson of Charlotte, N.C., and a stepbrother, Richard Rice of California. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Donald G. Gustafson of West Stockbridge died April 13, 2003. Services will be held at a later date.
