Raymond Paul Bedard

Raymond Paul Bedard, 77, formerly of 57 School St., died yesterday morning at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield, where he had resided since January. Born in Adams April 17, 1926, son of Joseph Prosper and Almina Sauve Bedard, he attended Adams schools, including the former Notre Dame Parochial School. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He served with the 22nd Infantry Regiment in the European theater, participating in the battles of the Rhineland and Central Europe. Following his honorable discharge on May 18, 1946, he returned to North Adams and continued his career as a self-employed carpenter until his retirement in 1981. He was a communicant of Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church of North Adams and a life member of the Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion of North Adams. His wife, the former Theresa Anita Mineau, whom he married Nov. 27, 1947, in Notre Dame Church, died July 31, 1993. He leaves three daughters, Paula Shephard of Daytona Beach, Fla., Tracy Bedard of North Adams and Sally Valotta of Clarksburg; three sons, Paul R. Bedard of Clarksburg, Glen A. Bedard of Okinawa, and Jody W. Bedard of North Adams; a sister, Marcella Robideaux of Adams; two brothers, Norbert Bedard of Adams and Gerald Bedard of Florence; and six grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Raymond Paul Bedard will be Saturday at 11:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at noon at Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church, North Adams. Burial at later date in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Funeral home calling hours are Saturday, April 26, from 10 until the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations suggested for Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion of North Adams through funeral home. Survivors include six grandchildren, Peter P. , Russell P. and Devin Bedard; Melissa and James Shephard, and Billy Ray Valotta. Predeceased by a sister, Geraldine Bourdon, and two brothers, Wilbur and Leonard Bedard.
