Ruth Crittendon Hubbard

Ruth Crittendon Hubbard, 89, of 26 Porcupine Loop, died Wednesday evening at the home of her nephew. Born in West Cummington Sept. 23, 1913, daughter of Eli Lamon and Joanna Stearns Hubbard, she graduated from Dalton High School, Mount Ida College in 1932 and the Harper Method Beauty School in Rochester, N.Y. She worked as an insurance agent and broker in Connecticut most of her adult life for various insurance companies, retiring from Owens Insurance Co. in Branford, Conn., in September 2002. Later that fall she moved to Becket and made her home with her nephew Al Clemo. She was a member of the Christian Science Church in Guilford and the Christian Science Mother Church in Boston. She was also a member of the Totoket Grange in Branford, and she made and sold crafts, crocheted, knitted, sewed and watched Westerns on TV. Besides her nephew Al Clemo, she leaves another nephew, Richard Clemo of West Cummington; and two nieces, Marilyn Clemo of West Cummington and Nancy Clemo of Dalton. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Ruth Hubbard will be on Monday at 2 at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee. Visiting hours will be from 1 until the time of the service. Cremation will follow and the ashes will be interred at a later date in the Dalton Cemetery. Friends wishing may make donations to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to the Becket Ambulance Squad in care of the KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238, which is in charge of arrangements. Miss Hubbard also leaves seven grandnieces and grandnephews and her cat Zoey.
