Virginia A. “Ginny” Frusciente

Virginia A. “Ginny” Frusciente, 55, of 175 Middlefield Road died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center after a long illness. Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 31, 1947, daughter of Harold and Mary Cormier Klein, she was educated in Washington and Dalton schools, graduating from Wahconah Regional High School in 1966. She had resided in Pittsfield for 22 years before moving to Peru in 1990. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Frusciente had been employed by GE in Pittsfield from 1962 to 1969 in the ordnance division, working with lightning arresters and on Polaris missile components. Mrs. Frusciente also worked at the former F.W. Woolworth Store in Pittsfield and at Rubicon West as a counselor for two years. She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Hinsdale. She was a longtime foster parent and raised many children over the years. An animal lover, she raised Shetland sheep dogs and enjoyed farm animals. She also enjoyed swimming, camping, going to Maine and country music. She leaves her husband, Martin Frusciente Jr., whom she married Dec. 16, 1968, in Richmond. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Martin “Butch” Frusciente III of Peru; a daughter, Barbara Frusciente of Pittsfield; a sister, Karen M. Klein of Peru, and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Virginia A. “Ginny” Frusciente, who died Monday, April 28, 2003, was predeceased by a sister, Barbara A. Klein, late of Washington, who died in 1969. She leaves her three grandchildren, Joseph Frusciente, Jacob Frusciente and Vanessa Purcell. The funeral will be Thursday, May 1, at 11 at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, pastor of St. Patrick’s Church, officiating. Burial will be in South Cemetery in Peru. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hinsdale Ambulance Fund in care of the funeral home, 890 East Main St., Dalton.
